One Day in Marrakech

27 AUG 2014

Marrakech is a tricky place to describe and recommend - its interesting souks, modern life and places to visit can be rather swamped by tourists - but my day there recently was wonderful and relaxing. Staying at Riad Cinnamon to the north of the main souk, I was relaxed and well fed and simply ended up wanting more time. My day shows what a day can be like around Marrakech; however, I didn't really push myself that hard.

Marrakech Riads – Riad Houma

22 AUG 2014

Riad Houma is our latest addition to our portfolio - a classic riad in the medina of Marrakech close to the Saadien Tombs, yet recently rebuilt and with good modern facilities. We are very careful about what new accommodation to take on in our portfolio, there are hundreds of riads in Marrakech, but few that offer consistently good service - that is where Naturally Morocco comes into its own in creating excellent holidays.

Illnesses on Holiday in Morocco

18 AUG 2014

It is possible to get bugs whilst on holiday in Morocco as it is in almost any country, but generally the chances of anything significant is very low. Make sure your normal vaccinations are up to date, take care in the sun, and drink bottles water and you should be fine, but stomach upsets can and do occur even so. Also make sure you have adequate holiday insurance just in case, hospitals in Moroccan cities are generally good but there is no reciprocal healthcare agreement with the UK so you would have to pay as you go.

Mawazine Music Festival 2014 – June in Rabat

15 AUG 2014

Justin Timberlake was the headline act in Rabat at this year's Mawazine music festival, but with more than 30 acts and numerous street performers entertaining over 2.5 million people in the week, the free festival was a success yet again. The 2015 edition will be on 29th May to 6th June 2015, and its increasing popularity means that booking quality accommodation early is now important.

Moroccan Holiday Choices – Chefchaouen or Tetouan

12 AUG 2014

Getting away from the more obvious - these holiday destinations are hidden away in the foothills of the Rif mountains of Morocco’s north and are relatively difficult to get to, but otherwise are as different as chalk and cheese. Chechaouen is picture postcard perfect – beautiful blue and white houses in a compact medina surrounded by stunning mountains – whilst Tetouan is a vast rambling medina of everyday Moroccan life, albeit the medina is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Arriving At Marrakech Airport

8 AUG 2014

Holidays can be a little stressful – travelling to the airport on time, security checks and the flight time can lead to the arrival into a different country to be a little nerve-wracking. Naturally Morocco seeks to make every holiday for its customers as enjoyable and stress free as possible, so a little information on what to expect as you arrive and advice for that time will certainly help.

Ideas for Holidays in Morocco in September

5 AUG 2014

After Morocco's peak summer heat, the temperatures across Morocco in September are relatively comfortable and open up all destinations for holiday makers. Fez and Meknes, the most northerly Imperial cities, and Marrakech further south are all land trapped and typically uncomfortable in peak heat but are now coming into their prime and can be combined to make a fascinating multi centre holiday.

Surfing Holidays in Morocco

1 AUG 2014

Morocco is blessed with an enormous coastline on the Atlantic and warm or hot air temperatures virtually all year round that, coupled with a good seasonal swell, makes Morocco a great place for a surfing holiday. If you like to dabble with surfing but like a little comfort and culture Naturally Morocco can create a great holiday combining it all.

Moroccan Zillij

28 JUL 2014

Morocco's rich cultiural history, dating back to the Romans and Phoenicians has left it with a unique form of artwork - the Zillij - which I hope you encounter on your holiday. Zillig is abstract geometric mosaic artwork, most often found on public fountains and walls, which requires a huge level of skill and time to create. Consequently its use is steadily decreasing and older pieces are falling into disrepair. Highly photogenic, this is artwork to stand and marvel at during you holiday exploration.

Sue Visits Taroudant

25 JUL 2014

Sue, one of our travel consultants, is travelling around Moroccan right now with her sister Marion and posting to our Facebook page. Having been to Marrakech and Essaouira they have then headed south to Agadir, inland to Taroudant and then completing the circuit back to Marrakech before heading home. They have done a classic trip, which can easily be changed to suit your needs.
