Set at the head of a valley in a spectacular position at a height of about 1,800 metres above sea level it is just 1.5 hours’ drive south of Marrakech. Overlooked by the peak of Mount Toubkal, the highest mountain peak in north Africa which stands at 4,167 metres, it is the centre for much of the trekking activities in the area.
