Rugged Landscapes and Beautiful Rolling Mountains
The south and south west of Morocco is little visited by tourists due to the often harshness of the environment and sometimes significant distances to travel, but it is all the more fascinating for that fact.
This interesting circuit takes in coastal, desert, mountain and towns in an area of some outstanding scenery and experiences. Travel via the fertile Souss Valley and through the Anti-Atlas Mountains to the northern fringe of the Sahara, staying at accommodations in Taroudant, Tissint, Tata, Tafraoute and Tizourgane in a region that enjoys a moderate climate.

Typical Itinerary

| 4 | 1 | Transfer to Tata (1 hour). Afternoon gentle walk exploring the caves, ancient irrigation systems and an ancient village where henna is cultivated nearby. |
| 5 | 1 | Transfer to desert camp/guest house at Icht (3.5 hours) via the Akka region to see remarkable Neolithic rock engravings. Afternoon option of 4x4 trip to the dunes. |
| 6 | 1 | Transfer to Tafraoute (3.5 hours). Option to visit a spectacular ‘agadir’ (a “Berber Castle”) at Amtoudi. Visit the incredible Blue Rocks (boulders), just 4 km from Tafraoute, created by Jean Veran a Belgian painter with the help of local firemen and 18 tons of paint, and see the fantastic rock formations such as the Lion’s Head and Napoleon’s Hat. |
| 7 | 1 | Visit some of the 26 pretty villages in the Ameln valley, including a fascinating tiny museum of rural life or drive south to the breathtaking Ait Mansour Gorges for a walk in the palmerie. Transfer to Tamraght (near Agadir; approx 3 hours from Tafraoute) to stay in a lovely riad with easy access to beaches and nearby Berber villages. |

Tata is a thriving little market town formerly an important caravan stop for camel trains travelling from Timbuktu to Taroudant. Tissint is known for its picturesque waterfalls and gorge as well as beautiful rocky desert scenery.Icht

Tafraoute, a small town in a breathtaking setting of the boulder strewn pink hued mountains of the Anti Atlas, is accessed by winding, scenic mountain roads from the Atlantic coast or from Taroudant and Agadir to the north.Taliouine
