On her latest visit to Morocco, our travel consultant Karen headed on a beautiful and interesting journey from Marrakech over the High Atlas down to the oasis town of Skoura, and then onward to the Sahara.

One of her many jobs was to visit possible new accommodation to add to our portfolio – accommodation that meets exacting requirements and Naturally Morocco can be confident will provide excellent service to our customers in the long term.

One such place was L’Ma lodge in Skoura.

Karen summarised this accommodation as “superb”.

The main house has comfortable lounges with a fireplace for cooler evenings, and is where food is served overlooking the gardens – excellent breakfasts (expected from all our Moroccan accommodation) and high quality evening food of Moroccan and Mediterranean cuisines – rooms are half board. From its roof terrace there are excellent views over the oasis and mountains beyond.

The gardens are very pretty and mature, an acre of ground with over 300 trees including fruit and olive trees and a well-stocked vegetable garden.

The residential rooms are in the riad building set around 100m from the main house, with 4 rooms and 3 suites, each stylish, bright and spacious, a number of which can take an extra bed or even sleep a group of up to 5.

Why Skoura?

L’Ma lodge is in the Skoura oasis set just to the south of the High Atlas mountains, which provides dramatic and stunning scenery on journeys to Skoura (5 hours drive to Marrakech or Taroudant, on route to Agadir) and they can be seen from L’Ma lodge itself.

Skoura is a great base for visiting the gorges of the southern regions of the High Atlas and the kasbahs of the region, and can easily be linked into a longer adventure into the desert – Karen headed on to Zagora and then M’Hamid, but other options include Ouarzazate (close to Ait Bedhaddou), Taroudant or the Todra Gorge, which offer a range of options depending on your holiday likes.
