Palais Oumensour has quickly become one of our most popular riads in Morocco over the last few years, set in the heart of Taroudant town, which is under an hour’s drive from Agadir International Airport.

It is a wonderful place to relax in the heart of the medina or from which to explore locally or further afield in the south, the High Atlas Mountains and towards the desert.

What makes Oumensour so special?

Oumensour is a spacious riad that has been tastefully renovated and well priced. Good riads outside of the major tourist destinations are few and far between and this is the sole riad in Taroudant that we feel comfortable working with in the long term as it consistently received great reviews. The central courtyard is spacious with a good size pool, it has mature plants and trees to provide a restful atmosphere, it has a hammam and the private roof terrace is well equipped and has good views of the distant mountains – a basic set-up to provide a great base for a holiday in the region.

The food is good quality and the staff are very caring and attentive. Being able to speak some French is an advantage as their English is minimal.

What to to from Oumensour?

Guests can rest and explore the traditional souks of the medina of Taroudant just a few hundred metres away, or take part in some of the options for cultural insight offered in Naturally Morocco’s “Real Morocco”programme, run nearby.

Alternatively, Taroudant is in an excellent position from which to explore the south or towards the desert – so Mirleft (on the Atlantic coast), Tafraoute (in the Anti Atlas), or Skoura and on to the gorges of the High Atlas or the deep desert are options if you have time.

Other Local Accommodation Options

La Maison Anglaise offers something different from most other accommodations. It is not a boutique hotel but offers well priced accommodation for those wishing to share their experience with other holiday makers – food is served together and it is the heart of the Real Morocco programme.

Dar Zitoune is the smarter option around Taroudant, but is located about 3km out of town. A pretty set of bungalows located in their beautiful gardens with a high quality restaurant in a peaceful location a short drive from the medina.
