Atlantic Coast Trail

The Atlantic Coast Trail is an 8 day and 7 night (6 days on horseback) horse riding trek from Essaouira along Atlantic beaches and the coastal zone. This trek covers significant ground with a variety of terrain, and passes numerous small local villages untouched by other visitors.

Day 1:

Arrival at airport of Marrakech, welcome and transfer (2.5 hours) to your accommodation in Essaouira for the night. Briefing by the trek leader. Dinner and night in hotel (possibility of organising the transfer from Agadir).

Day 2-6:

Trekking on horseback. The Atlantic Coast trail ride takes you through the forests of eucalyptus and mimosas and on to the beautiful deserted beaches along the coast towards the south. You encounter narrow paths, small Berber villages, sand dunes and waterfalls. After climbing cliffs and crossing fishing villages you ride up past springs towards the hinterland to meet isolated villages and plateaus with scattered argan trees.

On your left side, the winding paths and tracks follow fields with argan and olive trees, and to the right is the ocean with its blue waves. The Atlantic Coast trail follows a succession of deserted beaches, cliffs and paths through the barren and rocky ground in the hinterland. Every evening you will experience the life of the Berber nomads in your bivouac, and enjoy the Moroccan meal prepared by the chef before having a good night's sleep in the Berber tent.

Day 7:

End of the trail and return to Essaouira The tour concludes with a half-day ride along the coast, through a valley of palm trees and a river that irrigates all the vegetation of the area, and here, at the end of the trip, you are facing the ocean. The arrival is relatively early, so that you have time to get back to Essaouira by car and enjoysome shopping before leaving. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Essaouira.

Day 8:

Transfer to airport of departure of Marrakech or Agadir.

**Riding lasts about 5 hours a day. Departure at 10am every morning, break for lunch around 1:30pm to eat and take a nap if needed, arrival in the camp about 5pm each day.

Accommodation: throughout your trail ride, you will be in collective tents for 6 to 7 people, or if you wish, in a 2 person igloo tent. The camps are equipped with a shower.
