Why We are Unique
About Naturally Morocco
Our company is run by people who are passionate about the country, the people and the food. We love to share our experiences with you and are here to offer you expert advice on your trip. We offer affordable holidays that give you a real taste of Moroccan culture and scenery whilst helping to protect the environment and benefit local people.
Responsible Tourism
As well as offering holidays we strive to promote sustainability and conservation in Morocco and the UK. Our guest house in Taroudant also accommodates the offices of the Centre Environnemental et Culturel Marocain (CECU) which assists community projects and contributes to conservation education in Morocco for both our visitors and local people. We are involved in a variety of projects promoting the conservation of wildlife, sustainable forms of agriculture, tourism and community projects in Morocco. Two new projects are a cottage soap industry project and assisting with resources at a new blind school. We also help Moroccan students and our contacts abroad to become involved in these fields. We ask all our visitors to please respect local customs and culture. To learn more about this, please see our Responsible Tourism page.
About The People
Jane Bayley, the founder of our company, has visited Morocco frequently since 1993 as a researcher,
lecturer and, since 1996, when Naturally Morocco was set
up, for the business. From 1986 - 2001 she was Senior Lecturer
in Geography at Trinity College, Carmarthen, an affiliated
college of the University of Wales. She specialised in
teaching environmental geography to undergraduates, ran field
courses in Morocco regularly and carried our research on
tortoise conservation. Her main interest is in promoting
sustainable agriculture, its relationship with wildlife and
all aspects of conservation. She is author of a teachers'
book entitled 'Beneath Your Feet: on Caring for the Earth's
Resources' (Questions Publishing, 2000) and scientific
papers that deal with these issues.
"Finally, the organisation at the UK end was fantastic - Jane was endlessly patient with our changes of plans, and a very valuable source of information and advice. The emails prior to departure and this one on our return were very useful and reassuring - I like the balance between informality and professionalism which I think you have perfected" R Hastie, Aug 05.
Our
Travel Consultants
Jane, Christine and Sue make regular visits to Morocco to inspect your
accommodation and meet staff and will thus will advise on any
detail of your Moroccan holiday that you would wish.
Sue Simmonds joined us in 2004 and is a great asset to us
with her extensive expertise in office systems and
management. Like Jane and Steve, she is committed to
sustainable ways of living. For example, the day we called
her for interview, she was up a ladder working with lime
mortar! She never flies on environmental grounds except to
visit Morocco, which she has fallen for!
Christine Unsworth, who joined us in 2006 is invaluable to us due to her linguistic and editing skills. She has a degree in French and Spanish, experience in publishing, office systems, and as a testament to her commitment to sustainability, spent 10 years running an organic horticulture business! In the short time she has been with us, she has developed a real fascination for the country and is already very knowledgeable.
" I wanted to contact you as soon as I got back to thank you and your company, first for the fantastic service you offer - you were so patient with all our questions, efficient with the booking and offered great pre-tour information." L Strong, Oct 2004
IT
Steve Gilbert joined the company in 2000 and has been
responsible for the development of our excellent database,
marketing and accounting systems as well as developing
and maintaining our web site, brochures and photo
galleries. He has a keen interest in conservation,
sustainable lifestyles and photography.
Our Moroccan Staff
We have our own office in Morocco and are extremely fortunate
to six delightful, trustworthy and extremely helpful Moroccan
staff, in fact we consider them to be our greatest asset, as
well as personal friends. Numerous clients have commented on
the lovely atmosphere they create in the guest house - you
can be assured of a warm welcome. They enjoy their work and
mix professionalism with informality admirably. We also have
a network of trusted friends amongst the staff of the other
properties we use. Read more about
