DAR ZITOUNE | Taroudant

A luxurious, peaceful small hotel built in authentic natural materials, Dar Zitoune has exceptional staff, 2 swimming pools, one of which is a heated jacuzzi pool, and is just a few minutes drive from Taroudant. The rooms, scattered around the beautiful grounds look out onto lovely papayas, roses, citrus and olive groves. Guests can also take advantage of the cultural insight on offer in Naturally Morocco’s “Real Morocco” programme, run from the Guest House in town.

Accommodation: Beautiful domed entrance hall with lovely furnishings and chandelier. 14 bungalows and 8 suites all decorated in warm colours, with high quality fixtures and fittings, air-conditioning, satellite TV, a safe, phone and internet access and are all en suite, some with bath and shower, some with shower only. Bungalows can only take one extra cot or third bed in addition to the main bed. The suites can accommodate up to 4 people. Junior Suites are spacious (40 square metres) and have a sitting corner, whereas Senior Suites are notably larger (60 square metres) and may also be let with an interconnecting Junior Suite.

Location: In the countryside, 3 kms (5 minutes drive) outside Taroudant on the Agadir road. 50 minutes from Agadir airport.

Services and other points to note: Large unheated 20m swimming pool and small heated jacuzzi pool (7m x 3.50 m) a fitness centre and spa with massage room, hammam and sauna. Massage and beauty treatments available. Baby sitting can be arranged. Naturally Morocco’s "Real Morocco" programme is run from the Naturally Morocco Guest House, 5 minutes drive away, and guests at Dar Zitoune can take advantage of the meals and activities on offer there. The list of activities on offer includes guided trips to Berber villages and oasis or a National Park, Moroccan cookery lessons and a trip to a hammam.

Meals: Breakfasts are included. Half board may be quoted if required.  The restaurant prepares an excellent choice of imaginative Moroccan and European meals. Good quality patisserie, a skill that the owner brings from his former business.

Staff: The charming Swiss owner, Marc, who fell in love with the region, and the efficient manager, Monaine, supervise an excellent team of friendly staff, many of whom were trained at the nearby famous Gazelle D'Or Hotel.
