TIGMI | NEAR MARRAKECH

Developed from an original earth building, constructed in 1840, this well known, authentic small rural hotel, is set on the brow of a Berber hamlet in a superb un-spoilt location with lovely views of the Atlas Mountains. It is a tranquil oasis for relaxation with gardens, swimming pools, a spa, a gym and a weaving studio. You can also take the daily shuttle service to Marrakech if you wish to mix the rural seclusion with a city experience.

Accommodation:  The 21 earth built rooms are set around 8 patios. There are a wide choice of rooms available; all have en suite shower rooms and a safe and many open onto private terraces. There are 15 rooms with air conditioning/heating units and all have portable heaters; earth construction ensures room temperatures remain comfortable. The room types are: standard and deluxe rooms; a pair of suites with a private heated pool; a 3 bedroom apartment with private pool, patio and lounge. Many rooms are ideal for families since there are a number of pairs of rooms and suites with interconnecting doors. Seating areas in certain rooms may double as an extra sleeping area.

Location: 15 miles (20 minutes) south west of Marrakech, it lies off the main road in an authentic Berber hamlet in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains on the Amizmiz road.

Services and other points to note: Facilities include: 2 swimming pools, the larger of which is heated; an extensive range of spa treatments, including massages and hammam; a gym; a communal TV room with DVD and satellite. There is also a local weaver in a studio, who sells his goods from the small boutique. Various outings are available, for example water sports at Lake Lalla Takerkoust are 15 minutes away. In addition there are 3 daily shuttle services to and from Marrakech, 20 minutes away.

Meals: Half board is included. The excellent chef prepares Moroccan food, served either on the outside terrace overlooking the swimming pool, or inside in the spacious, dining room which has 2 fireplaces and a bar.

Staff: Very well managed by Jean Paul, who has a great deal of experience, and the charming local staff.
