Riyad el Csdi is superbly located for the main sights, this long established luxury labyrinthine riad offers 12 spacious suites and rooms set around 5 interconnected courtyards, one with small heated pool with jacuzzi. It has extensive terraces equipped with tents and sun loungers, houses renowned collections of antiques and works of art and, as a reflection of its antiquity, may display some flaking paint. It has a wide choice of rooms and suites to fit a variety of budgets.

Overview

Accommodation: The 12 spacious suites and rooms, all with heating and upper rooms have air conditioning, all differ in size and decor and are spread out over five interconnected patios. All the suites and the rooms on the first floor have baths and are air-conditioned. The ground floor rooms (single room, Aleppo, and 2 doubles rooms, Korea and Piscine) have showers and do not need a/c due to traditional Moroccan architecture with thick walls, which keep the rooms cool even in summer. There is family accommodation available in either: the Blue House which sleeps up to 5, has its own private patio which is covered in winter to keep it snug; the Douiria Suite, which has 2 rooms (single and double) with a private terrace separating them; and the Senior suites: Palm and Ottoman which both sleep 3.

Location: Very conveniently located in the Derb Dabachi district just north of the main square and close to the souks, the riad is located towards the end of a long alley.

Services and other points to note: There is a library with a fine assortment of books on Morocco, Wi-fi Internet access, babysitting, Laundry, Hammam, Massage, Solarium, safes at reception. Access free of charge to a large pool in the Palmery area, 15 minutes' drive away. An excellent 1-hour massage is also available. There are patios with fountains, roses and palm trees, extensive terraces equipped with tents and sun loungers and a communal room with satellite TV and CD/DVD player.

Meals: Breakfast is included, as are soft drinks. High quality 3 course evening meals or 2 course lunches are made to order. The meals are imaginative and can be taken on the roof terrace, in the courtyard or the most unusual dining room.

Staff: Charming owner, Julia Bartels, is the daughter of the riad's founder, a former Ambassador, whose collections are housed here.
