RIAD JONA  | MARRAKECH MEDINA

A really stunning 7-bedroomed riad, situated in the centre of the medina, a few minutes south of the famous Jemaa El Fnaa square.  It has a great team of staff and a real flair for presentation.  A pretty patio and plunge pool on the roof terrace make it a very desirable accommodation. The magnificent huge studded wooden door opens onto a world of magic – especially if you arrive after dark, when you will be impressed by the beautiful lighting and aromas as well as by the elegant outfits and welcoming demeanour of the staff.

Accommodation: The roof terrace has a great view as well as loungers, tables and a covered area. Double rooms are Musc and Warda (Ground Floor); Jasmin, Pachouli (First Floor).  Room Amber on the first floor can sleep 2 or 3 people in single beds and Encens (situated on the roof terrace) has double and single beds. The gorgeous suite Canelle (First  Floor) can sleep 4 people in a double and 2 single beds and has a bath as well as shower.  All rooms have shower, air conditioning and heating, Wifi and hairdryer. A cot is available on request.

Location: A very short and uncomplicated walk to the main square and just round the corner from the picturesque souks of the Mellah district – the old Jewish quarter.  History lovers will appreciate the proximity of well-known monuments such as La Koutoubia, the Bahia Palace and the Saadien tombs.

Services and other points to note: Fruit and mineral water are placed in all rooms free of charge. Bathrobes are available on request.  A traditional hammam (steam room) offers deep-cleansing of the skin and helps the body to eliminate toxins.  Also offered are a complete range of beauty treatments such as facial and body massages with essential oils and other 100% natural products. The small pool is heated from end March to end October.

Meals: A generous breakfast is included.  Evening meals are skilfully prepared by Fatima, who really knows how to impress both with her presentation – using a variety of delicately crafted white china dishes – and with the contents, which are delectable and varied.  Light meals are available on request.  Party evenings can be arranged with traditional music and dance.

Staff:  Managed by a young couple who have lived in Marrakech for 5 years after leaving hotel and restaurant careers in France and Switzerland. Julien is French and his wife Ghizlane  is French/Moroccan. They visit the riad daily to ensure customer satisfaction. The emphasis is clearly on good and friendly service and the beautifully-dressed team of staff now work together as a happy ‘family’, after being together for a few years.
