RIAD ATMAN | MARRAKECH MEDINA

Very conveniently located not far from the gate into the ancient Medina near to the New Town, this luxurious value-for-money little riad, renovated in 2008-9, combines elegant contemporary minimalist décor with traditional Moroccan tiles, plaster and woodwork. It has a well-thought out rooftop terrace.

Accommodation: The riad comprises a cosy open plan patio onto which the kitchen, dining and sitting room areas open on 3 sides. The dining area can be divided off by curtains. There are 4 beautifully furnished, stylish bedrooms, all with air-conditioning/heating wall-mounted units and en-suite bathrooms, built in wooden wardrobes and comfy double beds. No extra beds are possible. Three bedrooms are on the first floor: the master bedroom Turiya, which has a handcrafted, cedar wood, 4 poster bed, flat-screen TV and a large en-suite bathroom with marble bathtub/shower and bidet; room Sattva, which has a handcrafted, cedar wood, sculpted four poster bed and en-suite shower room with bidet and room Rajas which has a handcrafted cedar wood metalwork-decorated bed and en-suite shower room. The fourth room, Maya, is a smaller room but benefits from opening onto the roof terrace ; it has a low built bed and en-suite shower room.

Location: Located near the western edge of the medina, a few minutes’ walk from the main transport hub at Bab Doukkala, the gate into the medina from Gueliz. About 10 minutes' walk from the souks and the main square, the Place Jemaa El Fna.

Services and other points to note: There is a large flat screen TV in the sitting room. A minimum of 3 nights’ stay is normally required.

Meals: A good quality breakfast , which may be taken in the dining room or on the roof terrace, is included. Snacks are made to order.

Staff: The delightful young manageress speaks excellent English, whereas the obliging and charming housekeeper speaks a little French but no English.
