The Real Marrakech Programme is part of our Real Morocco Programme which is designed to give you an unparalleled authentic experience of Morocco with insights into the lives of the people, their culture, traditions and geography that few visitors to Morocco will be given the chance to enjoy.

It is a flexible programme led by our excellent and experienced Moroccan guides, and is based in Marrakech in south west Morocco with access to both the High Atlas and the North African coast

The number of excursions and experiences which you may participate in depends on the length of your stay - the longer the stay the greater the choice open to you. In peak seasons, shorter stays may not be possible.

Berber Villages of the High Atlas

Explore the Valley of Imlil and surrounds by car with driver to gain an insight into Berber way of life and subsistence farming, wildlife, agriculture, including visiting local markets on certain days. There is plenty of opportunity for local walking and a local mountain guide will meet with you (coordinated by your dirver) to take you for a half day trek through the area to show you many things of interest and wonderful scenery. Price for 2 people £70.80

Ourika Valley

Explore the Valley of Ourika by car to enjoy the scenery and wildlife of this lesser visited part of the High Atlas. The car and driver will be at your disposal for the whole day to assist where needed in the following itinerary. Opportunity to walk a little to the village market and (with assistance) you will buy your ingredients for lunch. Have mint tea with the locals in the market or at the home of a Berber family. Returning to Ourika Mountain Garden Villa for a cookery lesson and lunch - cooked by you. After relaxing in the garden and/or swimming you will be taken back towards Marrakech to the village of Annra to visit a ceramic workshop (for the experience, not necessarily to buy anything) and then back to your riad in Marrakech.
All costs are included (apart from any drinks with lunch) but there may be need for tips if you visit someone's home or for the potter. Full guidance will be given. Price for 2 people £70.80

Imlil, High Atlas:  

A scenic drive then a hike with guide.  Driver, Guide and Lunch included.  All levels of fitness catered for by changing the routes to suit the requirements.   Price for 2 people £160

Ouirgane, High Atlas: 

A scenic drive and trek with guide.  Excellent views in this very open aspected valley of the High Atlas.  Transport and lunch included.   Price for 2 people £160

Tiz n'Test Pass (High Atlas)

(dependent on suitable weather) Travel to 2011 metres altitude at the top of this spectacular mountain pass, widely held to be the finest in Morocco, then enjoy a half day trek into the valley below - here wild lavender and thyme honey are amongst the local products.Price for 2 people

Excursion to Essaouira:

 Visit this wonderful coastal walled town.  A smaller and gentler Souk to wander around while watching many of the items being made by the various artisans and artists.  With it’s working fishing port and Portuguese battlements to explore.  Take your swimmers, a snack lunch included with pool available. Price for 2 people

Caleche Trip:

Spend an hour on a guided ride in a horse drawn carriage to see the town, walls many interesting sights outside the walkable Medina


Moroccan cookery lessons, informal so that you will shop for ingredients with the girls from the kitchens of the riad you stay in.   Then they will show you various traditional Moroccan dishes.  Take the afternoon off to wander the Medina and then eat your efforts for dinner that evening. Price for 2 people – still to be decided


Attend a lovely spa and using the local, highly therapeutic argan oil or, if desired, any of the essential oils you may have purchased when exploring the souk enjoy an hour of total relaxation.  Awaiting prices


Visit the local "Turkish" baths, using rhassoul mud, henna and soft soap to improve your skin and hair. This activity can be arranged by your accommodation at their 'local' hammam but needs to be paid for locally

Henna Tattoos

Visit the Henna Café where an artist creates non-permanent tattoos using natural ingredients that are beneficial to the skin and stay for lunch (optional extra).

Or, have the henna ladies come to you at the riad, sit in the sun on the roof terrace and be pampered.

Or again, go the home of the henna ladies, they will offer mint tea and pastries and paint your hand and or a leg/foot.

Caleche Trip

The Palaces and Palmerie of Marrakech:

Hear the stories of how the Palmerie came to exist at all. A tour of the major sights outside the confines of the Medina. Opportunity to have a camel ride (optional extra) and learn of the Royal history by visiting the many beautiful sights outside the city walls. Price for 2 people half day £28.32 - full day £75.52

Evening with the ‘Wild Tribesmen’:

You will be picked up and taken out of the city to the camp, dinner and entertainment laid on and then an exhibition of horsemanship, acrobatics and ‘wild’ riding (name of tribes? What’s included?)
