Cascades d'Ouzoud

At a little more that 2.5 hours (150km) north east of Marrakech in the Middle Atlas Mountains are the Cascades d'Ouzoud. The waterfalls are considered to be one of the most magnificent sights in the whole of Morocco and definitely worth a visit if you are staying in Marrakech.

Please Note: Naturally Morocco's excursions are only available as part of a package booked through us that includes accommodation and transport.

Cascades Ouzoud

The falls stand at over 100m high and are very photogenic, especially in the mid afternoon when the sun starts to hit them and fabulous rainbows form.  Although the currents in the pools at the bottom of the falls are treacherous, it is possible to take a refreshing dip in them.

Around the falls are several working watermills, olive (Ouzoud in Berber) trees and fabulous landscapes, the focus of many preservation associations.  For the more energetic, the area lends itself well to short treks.

Although the area attracts a number of visitors, its good walks and cafes are rarely overrrun, although it can be busy at weekends when Moroccans often visit.

For those wanting to stay overnight we offer accomodation in Riad Cascades d'Ouzoud a traditional earth-built riad set in a superb scenic location adjacent to Morocco's finest waterfalls.

A Typical Day's Trip to Cascades Ouzoud

The trip to Ouzoud usually departs from your accommodation at around 9am from Marrakech, arriving soon after 11.30am. Day visitors have around 6 hours to explore, take a walk around the waterfalls and surrounding area, have lunch (not inlcuded in the price) and photo opportunities before returning to your Marrakech riad at around 7.30pm.
