La Bergerie is a charming, peaceful, well managed country inn with a bar and restaurant that blends perfectly with the local Berber houses due to their earth walls and flat roofs. Ideal for outdoor activities, nature lovers or those just wanting to relax on the terrace by the swimming pool and admire the surroundings of the High Atlas Mountains, it is a wonderful escape an hour’s drive south from Marrakech.

Accommodation: There are 16 rooms and suites, some ideal for families, spread amongst its large attractive terraced gardens and grounds. The cosy, simple bedrooms, all rooms with shower room, are decorated with pretty fabrics and Moroccan rugs and are equipped with an open-fireplace or wood stove. There are 10 standard rooms, 3 suites each sleeping 3 people and 3 larger suites/bungalows sleeping 4, and have their own small private garden.

Location: Set in a basin surrounded by the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains, around 1 hour south of Marrakech and within easy reach of some of Morocco's most scenic valleys and gorges. The spectacular Tiz n Test Pass is on the route from here to Taroudant.

Services and other points to note: Mountain bikes are available for hire. Trekking, walking and horse-riding close by.

Meals: Breakfast is included. Excellent French and Moroccan cuisine, served in a large restaurant with bar and billiards room.
