Ksar SHAMA | OUIRGANE

Located 1000 meters above sea level, this rustic hotel boasts a fabulous setting within 13 hectares of gardens and olive groves in the High Atlas Mountains, an hour’s drive south of Marrakech. Complete with swimming pool and spa, it is a great base to see or explore the High Atlas Mountains or to simply sit and relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Accommodation: There are 21 bedrooms in total, all of which are decorated in a traditional rustic Moroccan style. There are 10 bedrooms in the main building, 6 standard and 4 superior, all with a shared terrace. In addition there are 11 bungalow suites in the grounds, all with private terrace and fireplace. Of these there are 7 Junior Suites which have their own sitting area; 3 Ksar Suites which have a separate living room; and a Ksar Suite with 2 bedrooms and a living room (one twin, one double) and a small kitchen. All except standard and superior rooms have air-conditioning, a fireplace and TV on request.

Location: Ksar Shama is in the Toubkal National Park, accessed by a short drive close to a small village on the road towards the spectacular Tiz n Test Pass and Taroudant beyond. Only an hour south of Marrakech, its is within easy reach of some of Morocco's most scenic valleys and gorges.

Meals: Good food prepared using vegetables and olive oil produced in the grounds and bar. Lunch or dinner is around £10 per person.
