KASBAH SAMRA | IMLIL

A traditional Berber dwelling conversion, set in the dramatic scenery of the spectacular High Atlas, Kasbah Samra is a fascinating eco-tourism project. Set at the head of a valley surrounded by the High Atlas Mountains it is an ideal place to stay before and/or after a trek. The beautiful garden and spacious roof terrace is a great place for relaxing and taking in sun and scenic views.

Kasbah Samra - Mouss suite

Accommodation: There are 7 rooms in the main house and family suites in the annex. The cosy rooms are in keeping with the rustic Berber style, and have a shower and are decorated with pretty fabrics and Moroccan rugs, and most are equipped with an open fireplace: There are 4 standard rooms in the main house - 3 doubles (2 with balcony) and 1 twin or triple, all candle-lit lanterns (no electricity in the main house) and 3 family suites in the annex - one with 4 single beds, one with 3 single beds and one with 1 double and 1 single, have electric lighting.

The jewel in the crown is the “Tree House” which comprises a spacious all-wooden room sitting on 8m stilts; Enjoying magnificent views from the private terrace and the all-round balcony, it has a large king-size bed, which can be split into two singles, a mirrored in-view shower, a separate toilet and a wood-burning stove. The room will have tea and coffee- making facilities.

Location: Remote, yet only an hour and a half from Marrakech and within easy reach of some of Morocco's most scenic valleys and gorges. Accessed by a short walk over rough ground. Due to the difficult access and stairs in the property, we suggest that children under 5 or anyone who is unfit should not consider this option. The spectacular Tiz n Test Pass is on the route from here to Taroudant.

Services and other points to note: The Samra Main House relies on candle light, as it has no electricity, as it is maintained in its original state despite the arrival of power lines in the area last year. It is important to take care of the dimly lit flights of stairs and ladders to access the upper rooms.

Meals: Breakfast is included, evening meals may be included.  Excellent traditional food is served in colourful, friendly dining room or on the roof terrace if light and temperature permits. Alcoholic drinks are available.

After booking we will send you substantial pre-visit information guides for your chosen destination(s).
