RIAD CHAKIR MOGADOR | ESSAOUIRA

Riad Chakir Mogador was beautifully restored in 2006-2007 and now offers 18 reasonably priced, charming and comfortable bedrooms. Located in the heart of the medina, it is a friendly base, very convenient to the souks and restaurants and only a few minutes walk from the beach and also boasts a very pretty courtyard with fountain and 2 small secluded roof terraces.

Accommodation: The hotel has 18 charmingly decorated bedrooms all en suite, with a choice of sizes to suit a range of budgets: there are standard rooms which may sleep up to 3 people; mini-suites suitable for up to 3 people (preferable for 3 because standard rooms are small) and 2 rooftop suites, each sleeping up to 4 people.

Location: Centrally located in the medina, not far from the Grande Mosque, it is quiet yet very convenient for souks and only a few minutes walk from the sea. It is also close to the depot for the luxury coach to Marrakech.

Services and other points to note: Water is heated by solar panels with gas back up.

Meals: Breakfast is included. Dinner and lunch are always available on request at a reasonable cost and are good quality, served in courtyard or adjacent salons.

Staff: Soumia, the delightful manageress, and her assistant, Nadia, and her father, the owner, always go out of their way to assist.
