KASBAH MOHAYUT | Merzouga

Superbly located alongside the Merzouga sand dunes, Kasbah Mohayut is a friendly, family run property with a pool. It offers traditional earth constructed suites with views of the dunes and rooms arranged around two pretty courtyards, and possesses fabulous views of the Merzouga dunes of the Sahara desert from its own roof terrace.

The Kasbah has a good quality comfortable camp in the dunes, easily accessed on camel back. One day trek with camels (walk or ride) and excursions are on offer to the dunes by camel or 4x4, with an overnight stay in a nomans' tent or, for the more adventurous, camel treks of up to seven days' length may be arranged.

The Merzouga sand dunes are the most accessible large sand dunes in the country, almost due east from Marrakech, accessible from either Fez (7 hrs) or Skoura/Ouarzazate (5.5 hrs). Bird-watchers may enjoy this area, especially the birds at Dayat Merzouga, a temporary lake often present in the winter.
