Imlil Treks

At the centre of the High Atlas, almost in the shadow of Mt Toubkal (4,167m), the highest point in North Aftrica, is the village of Imlil (1,740m). The village has become the most popular starting point for ascents of the great mountain and for a wide range of less demanding hikes and Treks.

Our range of treks include both 2, 3, 6 and 7 day itineraries that include an ascent of the summit of Mt Toubkal, and a selection of more gentle hikes through the picturesque panoramas, mountain passes, valleys and Berber villages of the High Atlas. In addition to our teks we can also arrange both pre and post trek accommodation in a number of locations including Marrakech, Asni, Ouirgane, Imlil and the Ourika Valley.

* Please bear in mind the unpredictable climate and weather, the steepness of the ascent, the need for good quality equipment and the altitude of Toubkal (approximately 3 times the height of the highest peak in the UK). There is a danger of altitude sickness if you have not been sufficiently acclimatised beforehand. All these factors mean that the ascent should not be attempted without careful consideration.

Day trip from Marrakech to the Atlas Mountains taking in Moulay Brahim Gorges and, on Saturdays only, Asni Market, before embarking on a short (4km) trek from Imlil to the Berber villages of Aroumd and Achayn.

A relatively gentle trek of about 4 hours, it includes some fascinating Berber villages, views of irrigated terraced fields, a pilgrimage site perched in the mountains, and excellent views of the major peaks in the Toubkal National Park.

An 8 hour trek west of Imlil past Berber hamlets with a stunning mountain panorama including the Jbel Oukaïmeden range. Features a waterfall where a swim may be possible, juniper and pine forest and a transhumance village (inhabited by shepherds in summer).
