Dune Trekking near EssaouiraThe stretch of Morocco's coastline from Essaouira (2.5 hours from Marrakech) down to Agadir provides a wonderful landscape to explore on horseback, with treks available from a half day to week long. The treks take you to the beaches of the Atlantic coast and the area just inland, low lying with areas of argan and mimosa trees and various native shrubs, ideal grazing for dromedaries and tree climbing goats, and the forested foothills of High Atlas mountains.

It should be noted that in this region stallions are widely ridden since it is illegal to castrate horses in Morocco. We are informed that stallions are safe to ride and that the horses are very carefully trained, but you may wish to seek further advice on this matter.

 

Although all of our horse trekking guides and facilities have public liability insurance, clients taking part in treks should ensure that they have suitable clothing, are sufficiently fit and appropriately insured for accidents, medical repatriation, mountain rescue and repatriation helicopter.
