The Dunes at Merzouga

Deep Desert

We offer high quality desert camps which give you a taste of traditional life and cuisine in the dunes. Note that, unlike many other camps, you’ll enjoy comfortable mattresses, good sanitation, hot water and excellent food, which should combine to make an unforgettable visit to the spectacular dunes.  Most trips involve a ride by camel to the camp where you’ll sleep in nomads' tents, while others must be by 4x4 due to the vast distance from a paved road.

Location Options

We offer camel treks beginning from 2 regions on the edge of the Sahara:

Merzouga is ideal for those wishing to combine the Sahara with Marrakech and Fez, and you’ll see the most accessible large dunes (150 m high) in the Moroccan Sahara.

Zagora and M'Hamid are less frequented by tourists and ideal for those wanting to make their desert trip part of the Taroudant/ Atlantic Coast circuit to the west. The highest dunes in Morocco (300 m high), at Chagaga, are also the most remote.

Longer treks may be arranged on request.

After a transfer from Zagora, this camel trek takes you for a night's stay under canvas in the Saharan dunes. Your begin with a 2 hour camel trek over to the small dunes 14 km from Zagora, on a route that avoids the normal tourist access.
