Direct flights available to Morocco

There are a variety of direct flight schedules from various UK airports making Morocco even more accessible from the UK. It is a relatively short haul flight from the UK (approx. 3.5 hours) and is served by national carriers and budget airlines, making it the most accessible country outside of Europe for a holiday from the UK.

Budget flights to Morocco

Budget airlines dominate the holiday market in Morocco and their pros and cons are generally recognised by their users – price and frequency vs perceived lower customer care and “no frills” – and new routes are occasionally opened and others closed depending on anticipated demand.

Direct routes have been announced by Ryanair from Liverpool to Marrakech flying twice weekly, a London Stansted to Agadir schedule twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays and Air Arabia with direct flights to the north of Morocco (Fez & Tangier) also available twice weekly. These are additional flights being introduced to the usual London Gatwick departures (daily), Stansted departures daily), London Luton (usually two or three times a week), Manchester (two or three times a week) offering more choice for travellers wishing to holiday in Morocco.

Holidays Options

This is an ideal option for either a short break in Marrakech spanning the weekend or for a longer more adventurous trip. For those who only have a weekend free, have a look at our Short Breaks in Marrakech page.

Marrakech is an exciting and busy city with hustle and bustle but offers foreign visitors a great flavour of North African life and culture. A UNESCO World Heritage Site with many fascinating historic sites and the Marrakech ‘souks’, the largest market in North Africa, Marrakech is a big attraction for visitors.

For those who wish to explore a little further outside of the city, the High Atlas Mountains lie just 1 hour south of Marrakech (in fact they run a long way towards the coast and much further inland to the east, but the significant trekking centres and pretty valleys within close proximity to Marrakech.

Two Centre Moroccan Holiday

If you have longer to spend on your holiday, there is the option of extending your trip to the pretty and charming Atlantic Coastal town of Essaouira. It has a walled medina with a small maze of alleys and souks, a pretty fishing harbour (plenty of fish restaurants – but make sure that the fish served is fresh that day) and a huge sandy beach offering relaxation or a range of water sports (surfing, kitesurfing and windsurfing hire and lessons available), protected from the worst of the Atlantic swell by the island of Mogador lying just offshore.

Essaouria has a great selection of accommodations and a range of things to do in and around town (horse/camel riding is available nearby), is a wonderful place to relax in itself, but equally can easily be linked with another destination to create a more varied holiday (High Atlas Mountains).

Holiday Options (Stansted to Agadir)

For a direct flight into Agadir, this is ideal for taking part in our Real Morocco Programme based in Taroudant. Just an hour inland from Agadir, the traditional town of Taroudant is a wonderful holiday destination perfect for those who prefer to take it easy, but gain a fascinating insight into the traditional ways of Moroccan life and culture. There is the possibiity of combining a visit of Taroudant and Agadir on the South Atlantic Coast or crossing over the spectacular Tiz n Test pass to the High Atlas Mountains or Marrakech (a 3.5 hour journey down the motorway). There are a variety of options open depending on how relaxed or busy you prefer to be on your holiday.
