Holiday Accommodation in Morocco – Riad Hikaya, Marrakech

The latest addition to our portfolio of accommodation is Riad Hikaya, located in the Kasbah area of Marrakech medina – around 25 minutes’ walk to the south of the main square.

We take great care in adding new accommodations as we work with our suppliers over the long term, rather than bending to short term trends on internet based review sites, and we believe that Riad Hikaya is an excellent property in the “chic” end of our accommodation range yet is priced at a very competitive rate.

What Makes Riad Hikaya Special

Riad Hikaya is a classic riad with 7 bedrooms around a central courtyard, accessed from the street outside by a large plain and old wooden door that hides the splendour within. It is located in the kasbah region of the medina of Marrakech (around 25 minutes’ walk south of the main square), an easily accessible region with several places of interest nearby. Being set a little way away from the central scrum of the medina, it has a tranquillity within that makes it an oasis amongst the chaos of the medina.

Owned and managed by Jane and John, an English couple, the riad is also staffed by a single Moroccan family, which lends itself to excellent customer care – the staff are attentive yet unobtrusive.

The riad has been restored to an excellent standard with sumptuous, comfortable and rich decoration and furnishings producing a cosy, soothing and relaxing atmosphere, and so it is most obviously focussed at couples looking for a special break.

As normal for a riad it has a wonderful roof top terrace with excellent views, but unusual for a classic riad in the Marrakech Medina it has a good sized pool in the central courtyard and it also has a hammam and Jacuzzi. These extra facilities help Hikaya become more than just a place to sleep, but rather a place where it is enjoyable to spend time.

What To Do From Riad Hikaya

The riad is close to the Saadien Tombs and only a modest walk from the main square and the main souks beyond. Like most accommodations around the Marrakech medina, it is a base from which to explore the life and sights of the medina and also, if time and interests permit, to visit the nearby High Atlas mountains for a blast of mountain beauty.
