Focus on Marrakech Riads – Riad Mur Akush

Moroccan riads are one of the simplest ways to immerse yourself into Moroccan history during a holiday in Morocco.

Riads, traditional Moroccan family town houses in the ancient medinas, have a series of rooms set around a central courtyard and lend themselves to their current popular use as boutique hotels. With plain exteriors and often sumptuous interiors, an entrance into a riad takes you away from the hubbub of street life into a haven of peace and seclusion.

In the major holiday destinations, such as Marrakech medina, there can be a huge number of riads to choose from, with a reported new riad hotel opening and another closing every week. Naturally Morocco constantly reviews riads to ensure that we have many of the best available in each price range and our staff visit new riads when we believe that they may be of an appropriate standard.

Sue, one of our senior travel consultants, visited a number of new possible additions to our riad portfolio during her was very busy on her latest trip to Morocco  and recommended that Riad Mur Akush, in the Marrakech medina, should be taken into our portfolio and offered to our customers.

Riad Mur Akush, Marrakech Medina

Riad Mur Akush is a classic riad that has been painstakingly restored to create a charming boutique hotel close to the well-known “La Maison Arabe” restaurant and around 15 minutes' walk from Demma el Fnaa (the main square).

The riad has 6 bedrooms, some are very spacious and each has an ensuite bathroom, with a wonderful balance of traditional and contemporary styles. The riad also offers excellent Moroccan cuisine and the classic roof terrace with great views over the medina and beyond.

Despite the excellent service and décor Riad Mur Akush is priced very competitively.

Holiday Options in Morocco

Marrakech is an interesting place to spend some time exploring and enjoying and is the main entry point for most holiday makers but we normally recommend that a week’s holiday be divided between Marrakech and another destination.

Naturally Morocco can create a bespoke week’s holiday just for you designed around your likes and wants, perhaps joined Marrakech with Essaouria on the Atlantic coast or a village in the High Atlas mountains to the south.
