Focus on Marrakech Riads – Riad Hayane

Sue, one of our travel consultants based in the UK, was very busy on her latest trip to Morocco – it was definitely no holiday. In addition to checking up on our existing suppliers to ensure that our customers get the holiday that we expect, she was scouring various destinations for the best new riads.

In Marrakech Medina, in addition to Riad Houma (which I have covered before, she decided that Riad Hayane met our high expectations as so we should take them into our portfolio and recommend them to our customers.

Such a decision is not taken lightly.  We only works with riads (and other accommodation) that have consistently high quality service and, with a reported riad opening and closing every week in the medina, our checks have to be scrupulous – from checking insurance to understanding how long the staff have been working in the riad and how often the owners are present.

Riads are historic Morocco family town houses. Although they have blank exteriors on the public alley side, they have welcoming interiors focussed around a central courtyard. A significant number of them in the major tourist destinations have not been converted into boutique hotels in various styles ranging from traditional Moroccan thought to chic modern. They are an excellent way for holiday makers in Morocco to experience some of the culture of Morocco during their holiday.

Riad Hayane, Marrakech Medina

Riad Hayane is owned and run by Franck & Emilie and is situated in the Kasbah district of the medina close to the Saadian Tombs and El Badi Palace and approximately 15 minutes' walk to the main square. Riad Hayane is a classic riad with a peaceful and spacious central courtyard with a small plunge and a lovely terrace with remarkable views over Marrakech and the High Atlas Mountains.

It is a wonderful base for exploring the medina, and Marrakech is simple to connect with other a number of wonderful destinations elsewhere in Morocco to form a longer holiday – typically we recommend just a few days in Marrakech iself.

Holiday Options in Morocco

Marrakech is the main entry point for most international holiday makers and is an interesting place to explore and wander in itself, but can be joined with other places to create a bespoke interesting week’s holiday just for you.

Essaouria, a picturesque medina village on the Atlantic coast, or the villages in the High Atlas mountains to the south are ideally positioned for this, but there are a great number of other places possible – just talk to us to create a great holiday.
