M'Hamid dunes

There are many reasons why holiday makers are attracted to foreign lands for their holiday; whether that be for a short break, an adventure, blue skies and warm sunshine, to relax after a hectic work schedule or for some family fun.

Below we have listed 10 good reasons (in no particular order) why Morocco makes for a great holiday destination:

South Atlantic Coast1. Beautiful Coastline: its 1200 miles stretches from the Mediterranean on the Northern tip down its West coast to the borders of the Western Sahara. Scenic towns from Oualidia, Essaouira, Agadir and the Souss Massa National Park to the remote Southern town of Mirleft.

Erg Chebbi dunes, Merzouga2. Sahara Desert: a magical natural wonder on earth with beautiful sunsets/sunrises. The world's largest desert that covers 10 countries, Morocco is great for visiting these magnificent sand dunes and spending the night under the stars in a traditional Berber camp.

Spices3. Great spicy/tasty cuisine: Moroccans are famous for their delicious and spicy cuisine. Recipes are still being used from previous generations using a variety of traditional cooking methods and an array of spices, meats and vegetables. For those who love a meal with a bit of a 'kick', Moroccan cuisine hits the spot!

Marrakech at night4. Rich history & diverse culture: Moroccan culture is completely diversity to our own but has a fascinating history to go with it. Cities that have remain unchanged for thousands of years, medinas that still use the traditional ways, abound with hand made crafts and local produce, ancient buildings, museums and monuments to explore and delight.

Camel trekking, Atlantic Coast5. A variety of interesting activities: From a couple of hours on camel back to a week's trekking in the stunning Atlas Mountains, there are a wide variety of things to do during your visit to Morocco including; cookery lessons, white water rafting, hot air ballooning and a various day trips.

Caleche ride, Taroudant6. Traditional experiences: For many, meeting the locals and absorbing the culture can be the key reason for a visit to a North African country. We have a range of traditional cultural experiences as part of our Real Morocco programme.

Tissint Camp, nr Tata7. Outstanding diverse natural landscape: from the sandy beaches on the Atlantic Coastline, exciting ancient cities such as Marrakech and Fez, the Anti- Atlas Mountains, deep desert, traditional towns, there is something for everyone.

Ourika valley views8. Spectacular Mountain range: the Atlas Mountains spans across some 2,500km mainly in Morocco, but also extends into Algeria and Tunisia. This spectacular Mountain Range (from the Anti-Atlas in the deep south, the High Atlas in the south and the Middle Atlas) has varied terrain and climates with it's highest peak (Mount Toubkal) near the Berber village of Imlil standing at a mighty 4,167 metres.

Flight from UK to Morocco9. Short flight from the UK: very diverse in its culture, yet only a 3.5 hour flight from the UK, Morocco is very easily accessible from several UK airports. A great option for those who are not keen on extensive air travel yet still having access to an 'excotic' destination on a short haul flight.

Weather in Morocco10. A great climate all year: Morocco enjoys a more temperate climate than other North African countries thanks to the moderating influence of the Atlantic weather system. Thanks to its mountains, the influence of the Atlantic and the large variations in latitude and altitude, the climate is perfect somewhere at all times of year and a great winter destination in the southern regions.
