Public Holidays

The two most important Islamic holidays in Morocco, highlighted on the calendar below, are Eid al Fitr, at the end of Ramadan, then Eid al Adha, the feast of the sacrifice, when a sheep in slaughtered by each household. At both these times most Moroccans (even if they live abroad or far away) return to their families to celebrate.

Since the lunar based Islamic calendar is roughly 11 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar, this results in the dates being 10 or 11 days earlier each year. Other holidays have little impact on visitors.
