Yoga in Morocco
with Rozz Cutler and Jenny Harris 4th-11th May 2008
Full Board and Yoga 650 Euros, £448.27, Deposit £150
We
have chosen to book this holiday with Naturally Morocco because of their
commitment to ecology and promoting the wellbeing of the people of Taroudant.
The Moroccan people are warm, friendly and laugh a lot. Unlike the tourist areas of Marrakech,
Taroudant is a small city and tourists do not experience the same pressures to
buy or be shown the sights.
The Moroccan staff at the Centre will help advise you about the cultural expectations, haggling and what to pay for carpets as well as being founts of information about the flora and fauna of the surrounding area.
Yoga Teachers
Jenny Harris has been living and working in Spain for over 30years. After experimenting and practising various methods of yoga when introduced to the method of BKS Iyengar she became a faithful follower of his systematic and precise way of teaching. Jenny has been to Pune twice to study with the Iyengars and is a qualified teacher with years of experience.
Rozz Cutler has been practising Iyengar yoga for 12 years and has been teaching in both England and Spain for 7 years. She has been to Pune and studied with the Iyengars.
Rozz and Jenny met at the Iyengar Institute in Malaga and have been doing workshops together for the past two years.
Yoga Practice
Will be daily except for Wednesday and the days of arrival and departure, that is 5 sessions. It will take place in the conference room at Hotel Palace Salam, about 15 minutes walk from the centre, or an inexpensive 5 minute ride in a Calash or taxi. Yoga starts at 9am until 12pm and you are free for the rest of the day to swim in the 2 pools at Hotel Palace Salam or search the souk for bargains.
You will need to bring your own yoga mat, belt and 4 or 5 foam blocks.
Food
The holiday includes all meals, which will be vegetarian. For those travelling by road there will be lunch provided on the day of arrival at 1.30pm, and any air travellers who arrive around this time. If you wish to be away from the centre for the day you can ask for a packed lunch. On the last night there will be a Feast of the Senses, a Moroccan delight, we cannot say more or it will spoil the surprise.
Outings & Cultural Experiences
On Wednesday there is a choice of outing, to the High Atlas Mountains or to an Oasis. More information on theses trips consult Naturally Morocco. Reasonably priced at £15 to £20.
The centre also offers Moroccan Massage, henna hand painting, lessons in basic Arabic, Moroccan cookery a trip to the Hamman (recommended), village meal. All these are around £5.
On the last night we have booked a Women’s Berber Band at the cost of around £5 per person.
Transport
Air travellers will be met at the airport; you need to advice Naturally Morocco of your flight details and time of arrival.
Train to Marrakech
For those coming overland we meet at the station in Marrakech at around 8.30am, (time to be confirmed closer to the travel date). A mini bus will be waiting to take the group on to Taroudant. You need to make sure that you only bring a small amount of luggage because there won’t be space from more in the mini bus. It is a three to four hour road trip to Taroudant with a stop for breakfast.
