Marrakesh is, understandably, a magnet for tourists. If it's your first visit, you might like to start your stay somewhere quieter, like the mountains, Essaouira or Taroudant and then finish in Marrakech.
Activities and Outings
The City: The atmosphere of the old city's “Big Square”, the Djemaa el Fna, is unique, day or night for the variety of activities. At night storytellers, acrobats, musicians and snake charmers perform beneath the magnificent illuminated backdrop of the Koutoubia Mosque and the gas-lit food-stalls.
The red ochre of the town walls and buildings or the city’s palmery, set against the backdrop of the High Atlas Mountains is almost the city's trademark. There are many other sights to see, including the Ben Youseff Medersa, the ornately carved Saadien Tombs and the various palaces, gardens, of which the Marjorelle Gardens are the most famous and, of course, the famous labyrinth souks.
Museums
Dar Si Said
"... a sumptuous palace housing the very quintessence of Moroccan art". Located at Riad Ez-Zaitoun El Jadid.
Majorelle
museum of Islamic art, at the Majorelle Gardens.
Bert Flint
- a charming little museum of art and popular traditions from the Souss valley and the Sahara region, located at Rue de la Bahia.
Excursions further afield: Within an hour you can be the High Atlas at 1000 metres above sea level where we can arrange guided walks or treks , or within two and a half hours in the charming coastal resort and fishing port of Essaouira where we can arrange horse or camel rides or treks . Other options include a visit to the Jardin Bioaromatique d’Ourika (a fascinating organic herb garden where essential oils are produced).
Relaxation: If you just want to relax nearer to home, all riads have a private sun terrace. Massages and visits to the local hammam (steam baths) can be arranged for you on request.
When you book with us you will receive a substantial pre visit information pack by e mail with web links.
