Below you'll find the itineraries through this beautiful area. Note that the guides offer variations on each of these to suit your level of fitness - the easy routes keep mainly to the valleys, the moderate or strenuous involve more climbing.
Day 1: Departure is from Marrakech at around 9am, arriving at the trek starting point within an hour by taxi. We will have a refreshing mint tea in a Berber house and then cross the small town of Ouirgane. Then we will head up to the village of Tamgercht where we take our lunch stop and where one can also have a little siesta under the walnut trees. After lunch we will take a gentler walk to the village of Assif Zagzawne, where we will stay the night in a Berber house and be served a traditional Moroccan meal.
Day 2: On our second day, we head back to Ouirgane via Adrar Takherkhorte where one can enjoy some spectacular views of the High Atlas. After that it is downhill all the way to Ouirgane via the Berber villages of Anraz, Agouni and Douar id Salah. We will arrive at Ouirgane at around 4 pm. There the taxi will be waiting to collect you and take you back to Marrakesh (or, by arrangement, elsewhere for which there may be a surcharge).
Day 1: Ouirgane - Tassaouirgane.
The trek starts from Marigha within an hour's drive from Marrakech. The walk starts along the Tizi Meloul past an old salt factory where people are still mining. Within an hour we will see the view to the Nfiss Gorge. Later we will cross the Ouirgane valley, walk to the village of Agouni and on to the village of Tassaouirgane via the beautiful valley of Azadene. The night will be spent in a Berber house which has a lovely traditional hammam, where you can get really clean!
Day 2: Tassouirgane to Tahliwine.
On the second day we head to the village Tinzert. Just a little further on we will stop for lunch in a beautiful open forest area. After lunch we join the track to Tahliwine. This walk will take about 3 hours so we should arrive there at approximately 5pm.
Day 3: Tahliwine to Assif Zagzawne.
After our night in Tahliwine we will go down to the Azzadene river before climbing up the little stream towards Tizgui where we will spend the night before heading to Ouirgane, arriving at around 3pm. There the taxi will be waiting to collect you and take you back to Marrakesh (or, by arrangement, elsewhere for which there may be a surcharge).
Day 1 Ouirgane to Tassaouirgane.
The trek again starts from Marigha. We will walk along the Tizi Meloul past to an old salt factory where people are still mining. Within an hour we will arrive within sight of the Nfiss Gorge, after which we cross the Ouirgane valley and walk to the village of Agouni, on to the village of Tassaouirgane along the beautiful valley of Azadene. The night will be spent in a Berber house which has a lovely traditional hammam, so one can enjoy a relaxing wash or a vigorous scrub!
Day 2: Tassouirgane to Tahliwine.
On the second day we head to the village Tinzert. Just past the village we will stop for for lunch in a beautiful open forest area. After lunch we join the track toTahliwine for about 3 hours, arriving there at approximately 5pm.
Day 3: Tahliwine to Assif Zagzawne.
After our night in Tahliwine, we will go down to the Azzadene river before climbing up the little stream towards Tizgui
Day 4: Tizgui to Ouirgane.
We will spend the night at Tizgui before heading to Ouirgane, arriving at around 3pm.
There the taxi will be waiting to collect you and take you back to Marrakesh (or, by arrangement, elsewhere for which there may be a surcharge).
Day 1: Ammassine to Kik. Departure is from Marrakech at around 9am. It takes about an hour to drive to Ammassine. Our trek then starts there by walking up to the Kik Plateau. We will pass many of Berber villages along our route. Here you will see the diversity of the landscape and amazing views of the Atlas Mountains. We will spend the night in a Berber vilage.
Day 2: Kik to Tagadert.
On the second day we head towards Amizimz enjoying the beautiful scenery on our way to a large reservoir. We will pass many cultivated terraces before arriving at the village of Tagaderte. Here we will meet some of the people who work at the pottery supplying the pots for the weekly market. We will spend the night just an hour's further walk from there.
Day 3: Tagadert to Amegrass.
After our second night we head to the beautiful village of Amegrass. We pass through 4 interesting Berber villages (Labouar, the pottery village of Tagadert, lunch stop is at Aghbalou village before heading to Amegrass village via Ait Zitoun.) There we will be welcomed by a fresh mint tea on our arrival. We will leave our luggage there before going for an hour's exploring, returning to spend our night there.
Day 4: Amegrass to Ouchfilen.
We start our with a 3 hour walk to the village of Tazatourt where we have lunch. After lunch we go past few Berber villages, arriving at the remote village of Ouchfilen at around 4 am where we 'll see a fantastic, dramatic landscape.
Day 5: Ouchfilen to Tassouk.
Our last day is a walk over the Nfiss Gorge towards the village to Tassouk and then following the track toward the pine wood where lunch will be cooked by our chef. Your trek finishes at around 3pm. There, the taxi will be waiting to collect you and take you back to Marrakech (or, by arrangement, elsewhere for which there may be a surcharge).
